Buenos Aires - In the context of growing and complex migratory flows in South America, IOM launches Migrant Postcards, a space dedicated to promoting narratives on migration that portrays the diversity of migration in the region, as well as its contribution to the development of South American societies. Through dialogue and exchange with migrants and non-migrants, and through the possibilities offered by photography, Migrant Postcards will seek to promote integration and contribute to counteract xenophobia in the region.

Guided by the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the IOM Regional Office for South America aims to make visible and promote first-person narratives on migration, enhancing migratory experiences that value resilience, transformation and overcoming both individual and collective. 

In the words of the IOM Regional Director for South America, Marcelo Pisani, "we want to multiply the spaces that amplify the voices of migrants and their contributions to the receiving communities. People know how to tell and express what they experience. With a little guidance, they can gain techniques to be inspired and inspire". 

Migrant Postcards proposes an innovative, open and accessible format in which both migrants and non-migrants can find diverse tools and resources to strengthen their narrative and photographic skills. It will include individual tutorials to strengthen narrative capacities and establish a fluid dialogue between the Organization, specialists in the field and anyone interested in telling stories about migration through images. 

The initiative will also promote meetings and thematic discussions with different specialists to reflect and work on specific issues related to migration and its potential to transform South American societies. 

In addition, Migrant Postcards will offer an exhibition showcase for the photographic works resulting from the project, providing a space for their exhibition and dissemination.
